1. Introduction

GST Calculator India ("we", "our", "us") operates the GST Calculator website (gstcalc.in). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our calculator service.

2. Information We Collect

Our service is designed to be used without requiring any personal information. The only data we store locally on your device is:

  • Preferences: Dark mode setting, language preference (English/Hindi), whether you last chose a same-state or other-state calculation, tip jar dismissal state
  • Invoice builder: The business details you enter for your own invoices (name, address, GSTIN, state, the document type you last used, whether you're a composition dealer, and your LUT number if you export) and the last invoice and quotation numbers you printed, so you don't have to retype them. Customer details and invoice items are not saved — they exist only while the page is open

We do NOT collect: Your name, email, phone number, IP address (except for analytics), or any payment information. All calculations happen entirely in your browser — no data is sent to our servers.

3. Local Storage

We use the browser's localStorage API to remember your preferences between visits:

  • gstcalc_dark: Your dark mode preference
  • gstcalc_lang: Your language preference
  • gstcalc_supply: Same-state (CGST + SGST) or other-state (IGST) choice
  • gstcalc_tip_dismissed: Whether you've dismissed the tip jar modal
  • gstcalc_seller: Your business details for the invoice builder
  • gstcalc_last_invoice: The last invoice number you printed
  • gstcalc_last_quotation: The last quotation number you printed

This data never leaves your device. You can remove your business details with the Clear my details link in the invoice builder, or clear everything by clearing your browser's local storage.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website. This helps us improve the calculator experience. GA4 sets a _ga cookie to distinguish users and may collect:

  • Pages visited and time spent
  • Device type (mobile/desktop)
  • Browser language (for aggregate statistics)
  • Country/city (based on IP anonymized)

We do NOT use Google Analytics for remarketing or personalized ads. GA4 respects Do Not Track signals. You can opt out by disabling JavaScript or using Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Future: Google AdSense

We may display Google AdSense advertisements in the future. AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.

6. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

7. Data Security

Since we store no personal data on our servers, there is no database to breach. Your preferences are stored locally in your browser's localStorage, which you control completely.

8. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google Fonts — to display text in English and Hindi. No cookies set.
  • Google Analytics — usage tracking (see section 4)
  • Google AdSense (future) — advertising (see section 5)

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the calculator after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
